Cain v. Abel

Last night I went and paid respects to a family friend that passed away earlier this week. Stephanie Cain. When the obituary came out in the newspaper, it mentioned her ex-husband and children, which is good. What it didn't mention was my cousin Carla, her partner of 13 years. Stephanie was a lesbian. I asked why Carla wasn't mentioned because I was/am quite irritated about it. Apparently Stephanie's daughter didn't like the fact that her mom was a lesbian and wanted no mention of it broadcasted in the paper. To me, that lacks respect for her mom. At the memorial service, I was thrilled to see a majority of the lesbian community come and pay respects. Was the daughter uncomfortable? I hope so. Only because for 13 years she couldn't stand her mom's choices. Stephanie was a great person, always friendly. I enjoyed the family cookouts and karaoke time I spent with her. RIP dear friend, you are missed.
